Japan, 20/3 (AO Bureau)A tsunami warning has been issued in northeastern Japan after a magnitude 7.2 earthquake on Saturday. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning on Saturday. The earthquake struck the Pacific at 6.09 pm with a depth of 60 km (37 mi) of Mayagi province.
According to local media, there were no immediate reports of damage from Miyagi, and local utilities had inspected the status of the area’s nuclear plants. The US Geological Service estimated the earthquake to be 7.0.
Japan is one of the countries where earthquake shocks occur. The local administration is inspecting the nuclear plants in the province and the railways has also suspended services. These services will start from 10 o’clock at night.
