Mumbai, 22/3 (AO Bureau) Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Monday, calling the transfer in his own home guard department illegal. Along with this, in his letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, he has also demanded a CBI inquiry into the allegations made on the state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
Significantly, Singh was transferred on 17 March by the Maharashtra government after criticism over the case of explosive material found in a vehicle in the posh area of South Mumbai and in place of him, senior IPS officer Hemant Nagrale was appointed Commissioner of Mumbai Police did. NIA is investigating the case of vehicles loaded with explosives.
A few days later, Mumbai’s former police chief Parambir Singh wrote a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray last week, claiming that Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had asked the police officers to make a monthly recovery of Rs 100 crore. In a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Singh said that Deshmukh had told police officer Sachin Waje that he had set a target to recover Rs 100 crore every month from bars, restaurants, and similar establishments. Half of this amount is to be recovered from 1,750 bars running in the city, restaurants, and other such establishments. After this letter, there was a political storm in the state. Deshmukh has denied these allegations.
