New Delhi, 24/3 (AO Bureau): Supreme Court on a petition seeking a CBI inquiry (CBI) filed by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh On Wednesday refused the hearing. Param Bir Singh had demanded a fair and independent CBI inquiry against Deshmukh in the petition. Hearing this, a bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice R Subhash Reddy asked why Anil Deshmukh was not made a party in the case? The bench has also asked why you did not go to the High Court earlier?
The Supreme Court asked Parambir Singh’s lawyer why you have not made the department concerned a party? Why did you file a petition under Article 32, why did you not file it under 226? After this, Parambir Singh was asked to knock the door of the High Court. On this, Parambir Singh has withdrawn his petition from the Supreme Court and said that he will go to the Bombay High Court.
Parambir Singh had also requested the court to cancel the order alleging that his transfer from the post of Police Commissioner of Mumbai to be arbitrary and illegal. Singh, as an interim relief, had requested a stay on his transfer order and directed the state government, the Center and the CBI to immediately take possession of CCTV footage of Deshmukh’s residence.
