Washington DC, 6/4:The ‘double mutant’ variant of Coronavirus, which is believed to be the cause of havoc in India, has knocked in America. The first case related to this was found in the country on Monday. It is being claimed that this variant has been confirmed in a patient found in San Francisco. Actually, due to the two mutations of the pathogen, it is being called ‘double mutant’. The special thing is that already America is the country most affected by the coronavirus epidemic.
Peter Chin-Hong, an infectious disease specialist at the University of California, says, “This Indian variant contains two mutations of the same virus for the first time.” This was seen earlier in different variants. It is being said that this new variant is the reason for increased cases in the last few weeks. According to the Kovid-19 tracker from Johns Hopkins University in the United States, the number of infected on February 15 was around 9100. It has increased to 1 lakh 3 thousand on 4 April.
At present, the response from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is yet to come on this matter. The organization was requested to provide information regarding this variant from India and the threat from it. Also, information was also asked whether all three vaccines being administered in America are effective or not. At present, vaccines of Pfizer-Bioentech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson are being administered in the country.
