New Delhi, 15/4 (AO Bureau): The Supreme Court can decide the fate of Saurav Ganguly, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Secretary Jay Shah, and Joint Secretary Jayesh George. A case has been pending against them for a long time, now the time has come that the Supreme Court will decide whether these three will continue in their posts or not. The BCCI constitution was passed by the Supreme Court in August 2019. Since then, all three are in the cooling-off period. The rule says that all cricket administrators of BCCI have to leave their place within three years. His term expires in mid-2020.
A two-judge bench headed by Judge L. Nageswara Rao will hear the issue on Thursday (April 15). As per reports published in the outlook, both the judges- Rao and Justice Vineet Saran have taken up the matter as a matter of paramount importance. . Despite the Kovid-19 restrictions, this will be the first case for Thursday’s hearing.
Justice Rao is very much interested in ending this case of BCCI. Earlier in 2014, he investigated the betting and match-fixing scandal. In February this year, he scolded the Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, The BCCI Council for pushing the case further. Justice Rao said that we cannot postpone the case in this way. We have already adjourned six times, now there will be no adjournment, we will not do so … Its date was fixed on 23 March, but it could not be heard on 23 March. The reason was Justice Rao’s being busy hearing the Maratha reservation case. His bench is hearing 14 petitions.
