New Delhi, 24/4 (AO Bureau)The Supreme Court of India has got a new Chief Justice. On Saturday, Justice N Venkata Ramanna was sworn in as the 48th Chief Justice of India. President Ramnath Kovind administered him the oath of office. The oath-taking program of Justice Ramanna was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This program of CJI was very brief.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad were present at the function. Justice Ramanna took the oath of office in English as a witness to God. Before this, Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, who was the CJI, retired from the post on Friday. It is special that Ramanna will be the first judge of the Andhra Pradesh Court, who has been given the responsibility of the Chief Justice.
