New Delhi, 18/5 (AO Bureau)Serum Institute of India, the world’s largest vaccine producing company, has made a big statement regarding vaccination. The company has said- We would like to reiterate that we have never exported vaccines bypassing the people in India and are committed to doing whatever we can to support the vaccination campaign in the country.
Information has been given – According to the Serum Institute, in January 2021, the company had a large stock of vaccine supplements. The vaccination campaign was successfully started and the number of daily cases being recorded was at its lowest level ever. At that stage, most people, including health experts, believed that India was turning to an epidemic. Our government gave support wherever possible during this period.
‘We also had a commitment to COVAX’
As part of our global alliances, we also had a commitment to COVAX, so that they could distribute vaccines globally to end the epidemic. Another important thing that people are not realizing is that we are one of the two most populous countries in the world. Vaccination campaigns for such a large population cannot be completed within 2-3 months, as there are many factors and challenges involved. It will take 2-3 years for the entire world population to be fully vaccinated.
‘Delivered more than 200 million doses’
SII has delivered more than 200 million doses, even though we received the EUA two months after US pharma companies. If we look at the total dosages produced and distributed, we are among the top three in the world.
