New Delhi, 23/5(AO Bureau):Today, 23 May 2021, with Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and other Union Ministers, Minister of State for Education, Education Ministers and Education Secretaries of various states, amidst an epidemic of pending board exams of 12th During the virtual meeting, CBSE’s 12th exams will be conducted according to media reports. However, the format of the examination can be changed. The announcement of dates for examinations and exam pattern will be announced by CBSE board on 1 June 2021. Similarly, entrance examinations (JEE Main, NEET etc.) will be conducted as per the information received.
Two options given to the states
During the meeting, two options were given to the states by the Center. According to the first option, the students of class 12 will have to appear in the examination of some selected subjects and on the basis of performance in these subjects marks will be issued for other remaining subjects. At the same time, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia informed about the second option suggested by the Central Government to the states, that the examinations for the students of class 12 can be conducted, but the exam pattern will have to be changed. It will have a single paper of 1.5 hours instead of the traditional 3 hours of different types of questions and it will consist of only multiple choice questions. However, the Education Minister of Delhi said, “We opposed both options.”
Many states protested
The Delhi Education Minister, while sharing information about the meeting, said that many states opposed organizing any type of examination and demanded ‘zero exam’ by these states. The Education Minister said that these states were of the opinion that all the candidates should be vaccinated before conducting the board exams as well as JEE and NEET examinations.
On the other hand, Shiksha Varsha Gaikwad of Maharashtra, while sharing information about the meeting, said, “In today’s meeting we discussed that giving students a safe environment is our first priority. The last year has been unfortunate for the students. Kovid-19 epidemic. “The second wave is going on and the third wave is also likely to come.”
