Mumbai, 23/5 (Ao Bureau)The start of international career of Prithvi Shaw, the young player of Team India, was fantastic. He scored a century against the West Indies. But after this, Prithvi’s performance declined and he was also troubled by the injury. Not only this, he was accused of consuming banned substances in 2019 and stayed away from cricket for eight months. But in the current season, he has done well in the Vijay Thousand Trophy and IPL.
While talking to Cricbuzz, Prithvi Shaw told about the most difficult period of his career. Prithvi Shaw said, ‘I used to think all is well till the New Zealand tour. Also performed well in IPL. I was really looking forward to the 2018-19 Australia series and then I suddenly got an ankle injury. The physio and the team management were trying to keep me ready for the third Test. ”He said that but after a while my recovery stopped. I was in a lot of pain and was really sad. But these kinds of things keep happening and this is what the players and support staff tried to explain to me.
Took syrup at papa’s suggestion but did not consult physio
Prithvi Shaw said, ‘I started my treatment and played IPL. But then this cough syrup controversy came to light. I think Dad and I are responsible for this. I remember that we were playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Indore and I had a cold and cough at that time. So I went out for dinner and was coughing a lot. That’s why I talked to my father. They asked me to get the phlegm syrup available in the market. But I made a mistake by not taking advice from physio. ‘
He said that I took that syrup for two days and on the third day I had a dope test. I was found positive for the banned substance. It was a really difficult period for me, which I cannot say in words. I was worried about my image what people would think of me. I moved away from all this to London. There I did not get out of my room much. It is known that Team India has to go to Sri Lanka tour in July. Prithvi can get a place in Team India for the tour. The team can be played a series of three ODIs and five T20 matches there.
