New Delhi, 25/5 (Ao Bureau): Cyclone Yaas in Bay of Bengal is becoming increasingly dangerous and has turned into a severe cyclone (wind speed – 100 to 110 kms / hr). According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), Yas is now growing rapidly in the west-northwest direction. There will be heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Bengal for the next 24 hours and there is a possibility of destruction from the storm. In such a situation, 109 teams of NDRF have been deployed in West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
According to the Meteorological Department, the area of pressure was between Paradip in Odisha and Digha in West Bengal on Monday morning. According to IMD, cyclonic storm Yas is expected to pass through the north Odisha-West Bengal coast between Paradip and Sagar Island near Balasore in the afternoon of 26 May. During this time, Yas can turn into a severe cyclonic storm. Meanwhile, rains have started in Chandipur in Odisha.
