Bhubaneswar, 10/6: Odiaha CM Shri Naveen Patnaik today announced assistance to farmers in the affected areas. On May 27, the storm destroyed crops in many districts, causing extensive damage to livestock, fisheries, handlooms and silk. The Chief Minister has announced a package to compensate the farmers and directed them to implement it immediately.
Agriculture –
• Small and marginal farmers in non-irrigated areas will be given an input subsidy of Rs 400 per hectare for non-irrigated areas with a loss of 33 per cent or more. In irrigated areas, input subsidy of Rs 13,500 per hectare and Rs 18,000 per hectare for all types of all-day crops will be provided. Mango, cashew, coconut, ketchup, and other crops are included in the daily crop category. Only real farmers will be provided with this assistance.
• Farmers will get a minimum of Rs 2,000 for daily crops and a minimum subsidy of Rs 1,000 for other crops.
• Farmers in the affected districts will be provided with one and a half lakh quintals of high quality certified paddy seeds with a 25 per cent discount on the current rebate for the 2021 kharif season. The rebate will be credited directly to the farmer’s account through DBT.
• One lakh acres of land will be included in the seed refining demonstration program for one lakh acres of land for higher yields during the kharif season.
• During the kharif season, 25,000 acres of land in the affected areas will be covered for paddy, paddy and pulses.
• Farmers adopting improved farming methods such as row sowing and row rowing will be given an incentive of Rs 1,500 per hectare for 36,000 acres of land.
• Input subsidies will be given to farmers’ accounts on the basis of the need to control pests on 70,000 hectares of land.
• Farmers in the affected districts will be given a Rs 20 crore discount DBT to buy high-quality agricultural machinery.
• Farmers in the affected areas will be provided with 2,000 pump sets and 3,000 sprays at a discounted rate. A maximum discount of Rs 15,000 will be given for a 50 per cent discount for pump sets, a maximum of Rs 3,700 for a 50 per cent discount for power spray and a maximum of Rs 750 for a hand sprayer.
Farmers have been affected by the landslides in some parts of Bhadrak and Baleshwar districts. Therefore, Rs 750 per hectare will be provided for the management of soil nutrition and improvement of soil quality (Nutrient Management & Soil Ameliorants). Assistance will be provided for a total of 10,000 hectares of land.
• An incentive of Rs 15,000 per person will be provided to 125 farmers engaged in beverage farming through DBT.
• 10,000 affected farmers will be provided with high quality saplings for family farming at Rs 115 crore.
• Rs 50,000 will be provided to 50 mushroom cultivation units affected by the storm. Affected farmers can recover their roof cultivation units. This assistance will be provided directly to the farmer’s bank account.
• Farmers in the affected areas will be provided free of cost Rs 10,000 per kitty per kitty of Rs 110 per kite.
• Steps will be taken to expedite the preparation of crop harvest reports so that the claims of the affected farmers covered by the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme can be resolved.
• Short-term kharif loans to farmers with losses of more than 33 percent in the affected areas will be converted into medium-term loans.

Livestock Development Area –
• Milk cows, sheep in the wind. Assistance will also be provided to farmers who have lost goats, sheep and chickens. A sum of Rs 30,000 has been announced for dairy cows and sheep, while Rs 25,000 (for a maximum of three) will be provided for non-dairy animals. Similarly, for a maximum of 4 calves – Rs 18,000 per calf, Rs 3,000 up to 30 goats / sheep and Rs 50 per chicken, a maximum of Rs 5,000 will be given to the affected farmers.
• Rs 2,100 will be provided for the reconstruction of the cave.
• Flood-affected fishermen pay Rs 4,100 for repairs to their partially damaged boats, Rs 2,100 for partially damaged fishing nets, Rs 400 for the repair of the completely wrecked boat and Rs.
• Rs 12,200 per hectare and Rs 4,200 per hectare for damaged fish seed farms will be provided as input subsidies for the rehabilitation of flood-hit fish farms / fish seed farms.
Many windmills and handicraftsmen have also been affected by the storm. Therefore, the affected artisans will be paid Rs 4,100 for their equipment and Rs 4,100 will be paid to each artisan for the destroyed raw materials and manufactured goods.
• Input subsidy of Rs 400 per hectare will be provided to Erie, Melberry and Toss farmers and Rs 6,000 per hectare for Muga farmers.
