Bhubaneswar, 24/6 (AO Bureau): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced Covid assistance for OMFED dairy farmers. With this assistance, every dairy farmer will be provided with a maximum of Rs 4,000 in food costs. It will cost Rs 11 crore and will benefit 120,000 dairy farmers in the state.
The Chief Minister said that the Covid epidemic had a serious impact on the economy around the world, including Odisha. While almost all other sectors of the economy are in a state of disrepair, only agriculture and allied sectors have sustained our economy as a whole. The Chief Minister lauded the courage of our farmers to continue their productive work during Lockdown and Shutdown.
Dairy farming plays an important role in the rural economy and is particularly important in the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers. Due to the large-scale decline in the demand for milk and dairy products due to the Covid epidemic, it has seriously affected the livelihoods of dairy farmers. With this in mind, the Chief Minister said that the state government has decided to provide financial assistance to dairy farmers and hopes that it will help in the economic development of the farmers.
