Mumbai, 25/6 (Ao Bureau): The first person infected with the Delta Plus variant of Coronavirus in Maharashtra died on Friday in Maharashtra. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope confirmed this effect. Tope told the media that out of 21 patients of Delta Plus variant in Maharashtra, 1 died. The age of the deceased was 80 years and he was also suffering from other diseases. In the state, 9 cases have been reported in Ratnagiri of Delta Plus, seven in Jalgaon, two in Mumbai and one each in Palghar, Thane and Sindhudurg districts.
Significantly, the Maharashtra Health Department had given a presentation last week in which it was said that the new form of infection ‘Delta Plus’ could cause the third wave of Kovid-19 in the state. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, members of the state Kovid-19 task force and members of the health department also attended the meeting.
This new form ‘Delta Plus’ is made up of ‘mutation’ in ‘Delta’ or ‘B.1.617.2’ form that first appeared in India. ‘Delta’ was also one of the reasons for the second wave of infection in India.
