Did Suvendu Adhikari meet Tushar Mehta?

Kolkatta , 2/7 (AO Bureau):The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal has demanded from the central government that the country’s Solicitor General Tushar Mehta should be removed from his post. TMC argues that Tushar Mehta has met Suvendu Adhikari who is an alleged accused in the Narada case. On the other hand, Tushar Mehta is the lawyer of CBI in this case. But now Tushar Mehta himself has given complete information on this matter. He says that Shubhendu officials had come to his house, but there was no meeting between the two.

According to a report published on Hindustan Times, Tushar Mehta said- ‘Shubhendu came to my house without any predetermined program. When Shubhendu expressed his desire to meet me, the staff said that he (Tushar) is having a meeting now. When my meeting was over, the staff informed me about Shubhendu’s arrival. I sent a message from the staff to Shubhendu that I am unable to attend the meeting. After this Shubhendu Adhikari left my house.

Trinamool MPs have told ‘conflict of interest’

Significantly, on Thursday, Shubhendu was in Delhi and had met Home Minister Amit Shah. After this, he had also reached to meet former Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. Now Trinamool MPs have written a letter requesting Mehta’s removal. The MPs demanded a meeting between SG Mehta and BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari, terming a “conflict of interest”. In the letter sent to the PM, the officer has been described as an accused in various criminal cases.

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh condemned Shubhendu’s meeting with Tushar Mehta and asked how the Solicitor General, appearing for the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Narada case, could meet an alleged accused in the same case. Ghosh said, “Mehta is the CBI lawyer in the Narada case and he is meeting Shubhendu Adhikari, whose name is in the FIR in the Narada case. What is happening? He (Shubhendu Adhikari) should be arrested immediately.
