NeWorld Health Organization (WHO) chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan has once again issued a warning regarding the corona virus. He said that corona infection is increasing in most parts of the world. This is proof that the pandemic is not over yet. He has told the Delta variant due to the increasing cases of Kovid-19. The delta variant is highly contagious. In India too, this strain of corona is believed to be responsible for the second wave.
In an interview given to Bloomberg television, Swaminathan said, ‘In the last 24 hours, about 50 thousand new cases have been found and about 9300 deaths have occurred. The pace of the epidemic has not slowed down yet. He said that due to the speed of vaccination in many countries, the number of serious cases and hospitalizations has come down. At the same time, a large part of the world is facing a shortage of oxygen, there is a shortage of beds in hospitals and the death rate has increased.
He informed that cases of corona are increasing in 5 out of 6 areas of WHO. Also, the death rate in Africa has increased from 30 percent to 40 percent in two weeks. The rapidly spreading delta variant, the slow pace of vaccination worldwide and the easing of safety measures are the biggest reasons for the increase in cases.
Many countries in the world are now going through the process of unlocking. The WHO this week asked governments to be careful about restarting things. Legal restrictions are going to be lifted in England from July 19. Also, measures like wearing a mask will also depend on personal desire. In America and Europe too, restrictions are being relaxed in many places due to less cases.
