Crisis in Manipur Congress, Manipur PCC president resigned

Manipur, 21/7: In Manipur too, there is a cloud of crisis on the Congress. According to news agency ANI, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee President Govinddas Konthujam has resigned from his post. Along with this, it is also expected that 8 Congress MLAs may join BJP on Wednesday.

Govinddas has been elected MLA from Vishnupar seat 6 times. He was appointed as the state president by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in December last year. Elections are also due in Manipur next year. In such a situation, this is a big crisis for the Congress.

For the first time in 2017, the BJP had won the Manipur Assembly elections. This time BJP claims that it will remain in power by winning 60 seats. BJP is a coalition government with the support of NPP, NPF and 3 independents. The alliance has a total of 36 MLAs.

However, the Congress was successful in getting more seats than the BJP in the 2017 elections. The Congress had won 28 seats, while the BJP had won 21 seats. NPF and NPP won 4-4 seats.
