Mumbai, 21/7 (AO Bureau);The Regional Center of the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Red Alert’ expressing the forecast of heavy to very heavy rains in Mumbai. Head of Regional Meteorological Center Dr. Jayant Sarkar said that earlier the Meteorological Department had issued ‘Orange Alert’, but now it has been changed to ‘Red Alert’ for Wednesday after changing due to ‘favorable contemporary conditions’ . The metropolis also received heavy rains on Sunday and Monday.
“There are two favorable contemporary conditions for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai today and in the next few days,” the government said. The intensity of rain is expected to intensify from a low pressure area from south Gujarat coast to Karnataka coast. There will also be widespread rain in Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra.
The government said that Marathwada region is also likely to receive widespread rain till Thursday and after that the intensity of rain may reduce. Another official of the Meteorological Department office said that a low pressure area is forming along the coast between Maharashtra and Karnataka, due to which westerly winds with moisture often blow over the land from the Arabian Sea.
