The new Chief Minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government can be elected in Karnataka. Senior party leader Basavaraj Bommai told that the BJP Legislature Party meeting will be held in Bengaluru on Tuesday evening. Legislature party meeting is proposed to be held at 7 pm today. Union Minister and Karnataka observer G Kishan Reddy told news agency ANI, “I will go to Bengaluru, there will be a meeting with all the MLAs, a decision will be taken there.” Caretaker Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa comes from the influential Lingayat community of Karnataka. There is a discussion that the idea is going on in the BJP to hand over the chief minister’s post to an influential leader of the Lingayat community.
The names being discussed as possible successors to Yediyurappa include Union minister Prahlad Joshi, BJP national general secretary CT Ravi, BL Santosh and state assembly speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.
