Mumbai,5/8After opening at a record level, the stock market on Thursday managed to close in the green after the day’s volatility. At the end of trading, the Sensex, the main index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), closed at 54,492.84 with a gain of 123.07 points, or 0.23 per cent. At the same time, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed at 16,294.60 with a gain of 35.80 points or 0.22 percent.
Among the heavyweights, shares of ITC, Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, HCL Tech, Bajaj Auto, HDFC Bank, Dr Reddy’s, Reliance, Kotak Bank, TCS, Sun Pharma, L&T and Infosys closed on the green mark. On the other hand, shares of NTPC, Power Grid, HDFC, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, SBI, Maruti, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, UltraTech Cement, IndusInd Bank etc. closed on the red mark.
Talking about the sectoral indices, metal, FMCG and IT closed on the green mark on Thursday, while private banks, PSU banks, finance services, banks, media, pharma, auto and realty closed on the red mark.
