Is the mix dose of Covaxin and Covishield more effective on Corona?

New Delhi, 8/8 (AO Bureau):To prevent Coronavirus infection, a massive vaccination campaign is going on across the world. In this, two doses of corona vaccine are being applied. Along with this, research is also being done all over the world regarding mixed doses. Meaning research is being done to give two doses of two different vaccines to the people. Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, have done special research in this regard. It has been claimed that people are getting more benefit from the mixed dose of Covishield and Covaxin. Its effect is more than two doses of the same vaccine.

This research done on 18 people is yet to be fully reviewed. This research also investigated the immunity power and safety of those people who have had Covishield or Covaxin. It was also found in the research that applying a mixed dose of Covishield and Covaxin is not only safe, but it also increases immunity much more.

How does this work?

Some scientists say that combining vaccines can strengthen the fight against Kovid-19 because the doses of different vaccines produce a more powerful immune response against Kovid-19. Dr Chandrakant Laharia, a senior vaccinologist, has told in a media report that in the case of viral vector vaccines like Covishield, mixing vaccines may prove to be more beneficial. Dr. Laharia explained that the effectiveness of such vaccines decreases significantly with frequent doses as the body begins to develop antibodies against the adenovirus used by the vaccine as well.

Amidst new variants of the corona virus that have emerged around the world, scientists have highlighted that combining vaccines can develop a better level of immune response against different mutations of the virus. Some experts have also suggested that a mixture of vaccines would be beneficial in fighting vaccine shortages as the mixture would increase its availability.
