Tokyo, 4/9: Manish Narwal of India has created history by winning the gold medal in the mixed 50m pistol SH1 shooting. At the same time, 39-year-old Singhraj Singh Adana has got a silver medal. 19-year-old Narwal scored 218.2, setting a record for the Paralympics. At the same time, Adana won the silver medal by scoring 216.7 points. Both the shooters are residents of Faridabad, Haryana. Sergei Malyshev of the Russian Olympic Committee won the bronze medal with a score of 196.8. Earlier in the qualifying round, Adana was fourth with 536 points and Narwal was seventh with 533 points. India’s Akash could not make it to the finals by finishing 27th.
With this, India’s medal tally in the Tokyo Olympics has gone up to 15. India has so far won three gold, seven silver and five bronze medals. India has won 5 medals in shooting at the Tokyo Paralympics. 19-year-old Avani Lekhara has won one gold and one bronze medal. Simharaj Adana won the bronze medal in the P1 Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 at the Paralympic Games on 31 August. Like Avni, Singhraj also won two medals in Tokyo Paralympics.
