Kolkatta, 6/9: In West Bengal, Leader of Opposition Suve Adhikari got relief from arrest on Monday in connection with the death of one of his bodyguards in 2018. The Calcutta High Court has stayed the arrest of the BJP MLA. Suvendu, a former aide of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and who joined the BJP from Trinamool Congress, was to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the same case today, but could not appear due to being busy.
The court, in its order, said that the officer cannot be arrested in any existing and future cases without his sanction. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Nandigram, Suvendu Adhikari, was asked to appear before the investigating officers at the CID’s headquarters at Bhavani Bhavan here on Monday in connection with the probe into the death of his bodyguard Shubhbrata Chakraborty.
