Our responsible behaviour during the festivities will be crucial in controlling the third wave – CM Naveen

Bhubaneswar, 7/9:Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik today reviewed the situation in Covid. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the incidence of coronary infections in various places from the US to Kerala has been worrying. So in this case we have to strictly abide by the Covid rules in order to be safe from the possible third wave. The Chief Minister warned that slight negligence could be a danger to all.

Describing Covid’s behavior as “the most powerful weapon in the fight against Covid,” the Chief Minister said that proper compliance was important for all. The chief minister said the children had not been vaccinated yet. So we have to be more careful for them. The chief minister warned that the institution would be held accountable if negligence was observed in compliance with the Covid Act. The Chief Minister also directed the administration to set up special chambers and conduct regular inspections of educational institutions.

The Chief Minister also directed the administration to keep a close eye on the Hat Bazaar, Religious Institutions, Health Institutions etc. The Chief Minister advised health workers, school-going children, pregnant women, government employees and the police to continue testing of this high risk group on a regular basis.

The Chief Minister said that now in some cases, infections are occurring among health workers. He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”. In addition, the Chief Minister advised to keep a close eye on the Micro Contentment Zone as the Delta variant is more contagious.

Vaccination has also improved as supply has increased. So the Chief Minister directed the district magistrates to ensure that everyone took his two yak doses.

The Chief Minister said that the festive season is coming. The Chief Minister advised everyone to be more vigilant during the festival, citing the rise in infections after the Onam festival in Kerala. He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”. “It simply came to our notice then.

The Chief Minister urged everyone to wear masks, wash their hands, maintain social distance and not to go to the crowd, believing that our responsible behavior during the festive season would be crucial to controlling the third wave.
