13 High Court to get new Chief Justice, Collegium sent names to government

New Delhi,21/9:13 High Courts of the country will get new Chief Justice as the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana has recommended eight names for promotion to the Centre. Justice Rajesh Bindal, Acting Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court. The Collegium has also recommended transfer of five Chief Justices to different High Courts.

This decision of the collegium has been uploaded on the website of the court on Tuesday. Justice U U Lalit and Justice AM Khanwilkar are also part of the collegium. If the Center accepts the collegium’s recommendations, Justice Bindal will become the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court. Besides him, seven other judges have also been recommended to be made Chief Justices.

A statement issued by the top court said, “The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on 16 September 2021, has recommended the elevation of judges to the rank of High Court judges.” The names of Ranjit V More, Satish Chandra Sharma, Prakash Srivastava, RV Malimath, Ritu Raj Awasthi, Arvind Kumar and Prashant Kumar Mishra have been recommended to the High Courts of Meghalaya, Telangana, Calcutta, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh respectively. as Chief Justice.
