New Delhi, 21/9:The Central Government has decided to make Air Marshal VR Chaudhury as the next Air Force Chief of the country. Choudhari is currently the Deputy Chief of Air Staff. The current Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria is retiring on 30 September. After which Chaudhari will take over this post. Air Marshal Vivek Ram Choudhary took over as the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff on July 1 this year.
Before being made the Vice Chief of the Air Force, Air Marshal Choudhary served as the Commander-in-Chief of the Western Air Command (WAC) of the Indian Air Force. This command has the responsibility of protecting the country’s airspace in the sensitive Ladakh region as well as other parts of North India.
Air Marshal Chaudhary was inducted into the fighter stream of the Air Force on 29 December 1982. In a distinguished career spanning nearly 38 years, the officer has flown a variety of fighter and trainer aircraft of the Indian Air Force. He has over 3,800 hours of flying experience including operational flying of MiG-21, MiG-23MF, MiG-29 and Sukhoi-30MKI fighter aircraft.
