Chandigarh, 28/9:Navjot Singh Sidhu has resigned from the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday. Navjot Singh Sidhu took over as the President of Punjab Congress on July 23, about two months ago. Sidhu’s move is being described as shocking when Charanjit Singh Channi, who was elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party after Amarinder Singh resigned as the Chief Minister on September 18, was appointed as the Chief Minister of Punjab on September 20.
In his resignation letter sent to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, Sidhu wrote, “The downfall of a man’s character begins with compromise. I can never compromise with the future and well being of Punjab. In such a situation, I resign from the post of Punjab Congress President. I will keep working for the Congress.”
