PM Modi raised Afghanistan issue in Italy

New Delhi, 30/10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that the situation in Afghanistan should not be looked at in isolation and the international community should look very carefully at the threats and threats emanating from the war-torn country. Also, Prime Minister Modi will meet Pope Francis, the supreme leader of Catholic Christianity, in private before the delegation-level talks in Vatican City on Saturday. Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla told a press conference that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his first one-on-one meeting with his Italian counterpart Mario Draghi on the sidelines of the G20 summit here, pointed to the core of the Afghanistan problem which really needs to be addressed. And what is fundamentalism, extremism and terrorism and their consequences need to be evaluated very carefully.

 

It is noteworthy that after two decades of costly fighting, the US withdrew from Afghanistan on August 31, but about two weeks before that the Taliban had seized power in the country.
