Kolkata, 16/10:National Rifle shooter player Konika Layak (26), a resident of Dhanbad, Jharkhand, has committed suicide by hanging herself in Kolkata. The entire sports world is shocked by this. Konika was the daughter of Partho Layak, a resident of Anugrah Nagar of Dhansar. She was taking training for the last 1 year at the camp of National Player Jaideep Pramakar in North Pada, Kolkata. On Wednesday, the Kolkata Police informed Konika’s father about the suicide over the phone. Bollywood actor Sonu Sood presented a German rifle to Konika Layak. The actor had told Konika by tweeting – I will give you a rifle, you give a medal to the country. Please tell that Konika was going to get married soon.
Konika went to Gujarat for training in October 2021. After that she went to Kolkata from there. Police is probing the reasons for the suicide. After receiving the news of death, the atmosphere in Anugrah Nagar of Dhansar became gloomy. It is to be known that Bollywood actor Sonu Sood had sent a German rifle worth 2.5 lakh rupees to Konika Layak, the national shooter of Dhanbad.
