Vijay Diwas: PM Modi participates in special ceremony at National War Memorial

New Delhi, 16/12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tributes to the soldiers martyred in the 1971 war with Pakistan at the National War Memorial. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was also present with him on this occasion. As a result of this war, a new nation was created in the form of Bangladesh separate from Pakistan. Today 50 years of this war have been completed. In India and Bangladesh, this day is celebrated as Vijay Diwas. In this war, the Indian Army had won a spectacular victory by showing indomitable courage.

 

 

During this, the Prime Minister signed the visitors’ book at the National War Memorial. The PM wrote- ‘On behalf of the entire nation, I salute the warriors of the 1971 war. Citizens are proud of the brave warriors who wrote unique tales of valor…’

 

Remembering the valor and sacrifice of brave soldiers – PM

Earlier in a tweet, the PM said, ‘On the 50th Vijay Diwas, I remember the valor and sacrifice of the freedom fighters, brave women and brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces. Together we fought the oppressive forces and won. Rashtrapatiji’s presence in Dhaka holds special significance for every Indian.
