Paradip- Land acquisition is underway for the upcoming JSW project in Dhinkia,Nuagaon and Gadkujang panchayats under Ersama tehsil of Jagatsinghpur district. On the one hand, the demolition work is underway in Gobindpur, Patna, Mahal and later in Dhinkia village of Dhenkia panchayat, with the betlevine being measured. At the same time, some people in Dhinkia village have been protesting against the project. But in particular, several families in the village of Dhinkia are voluntarily demolishing their betlevine. Even some of the anti JSW movement leaders have agreed to break the vines. As a result, there has been a lot of change in the way the anti-project movement has been taking place. Today, a 15-member delegation from the United Kishan Morcha (UKM) arrived in Dhinkia village. Former MLA Narayan Reddy, senior environmentalist Prafulla Samantaraiah, Suresh Panigrahi, Sudarshan Pradhan, Slum Protection Forum leader Pramila Behera, Shankar Sahu, senior CPI leader Shashi Bhushan Swain reached Dhinkia. And then they arrived in a rally in front of the project’s temporary office. The protesters, however, were far away when the delegation met with the local Ersama tehsildar, the additional superintendent of police. Ersama tehsildar Chowdhury Pranjananda Das, on the other hand, said that no such police force had been deployed by the local administration. The tehsildar said that people should come directly to the tehsildar with any problems or demands.
However, the demolition work continued in Patna Mahal and Dhenkia, Gobindpur villages in Dhenkia panchayat today. As of yesterday, 192 betlevine demarcated of 167 beneficiary.Out of this 118 betlevine demolished. Total, 53 beneficiaries have received financial assistance of Rs 1,41,93 ,749. However, the people of Dhinkia, Patna and Mahal villages have agreed to the project and other people are agreeing to break their betlevine.
