CM Naveen releases assistance to Rural housing beneficiaries

Bhubaneswar, 7/1: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today, through video conferencing, provided Rs 3,000 crore assistance to the beneficiaries of houses in the state’s rural housing scheme. A total of Rs 1,444 crore has been provided to 31 lakh households in the state. The beneficiaries are credited to the bank account.

Odisha is the only state where the housing scheme beneficiaries are being provided with financial assistance for home repairs. On December 21, the state cabinet passed a resolution calling for housing repairs. Beneficiaries have been assisted today within 15 days of the decision.

Inaugurating the event, Chief Minister Patnaik said, “We have kept our promises to the people.” At the first meeting of the state cabinet in 2014, it was decided to make all the raw houses in the state permanent houses. We are doing what we promised the people of the state. From 2014 to the present, we have provided permanent housing to 31 lakh families. We will continue our efforts until the last raw house in the state is completed.

The Chief Minister also said that house and house repairs are also important. So today, 3,000 rupees was donated to repair the house. He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”.

Highlighting the lack of housing for the people under the Centre’s plan, the Chief Minister said that many houses were destroyed in 14 districts of the state during the floods. They are waiting to get a piece of the house under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. I have also been bringing the matter to the attention of the Center. In addition, our tribal brothers and sisters from South and West Odisha are also looking forward to getting a house in the central scheme.
