The government has extended the last date for filing income tax returns for business taxpayers. The CBDT on Tuesday announced that the last date for filing ITR for assessment year 2021-22 will now be March 15. Keep in mind that this exemption is not for ordinary taxpayers. This is only and only for those taxpayers who do business.

Earlier, several entities representing chartered accountants had urged the finance ministry to extend the date for filing ITR and submission of tax audit reports. These organizations said that due to flaws in the new portal of income tax and the corona epidemic, many people have not been able to file tax returns on the last day. In such a situation, this date should be extended.

Therefore the time limit has been extended

The notification issued by the Revenue Department said, “Difficulties have come to the fore during the filing of various audit reports. In such a situation, the deadline for e-filing is being extended under the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 1961. Taxpayers will now be able to file their Income Tax Return (ITR) till March 15.

Let us inform that the deadline for filing income tax returns was earlier 31 December 2021. On December 31, the Revenue Secretary had said in a statement that the government has no proposal to extend the date of income tax returns. However, many chartered accountants and taxpayers were continuously demanding an extension of its date, citing flaws in the new portal and the corona epidemic.
