NCP to contest UP Assembly election with SP

Mumbai, 11/1: Sharad Pawar on Tuesday announced that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will be contesting the Uttar Pradesh elections 2022 in alliance with Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party.

Addressing a press conference, Pawar claimed that 13 BJP MLAs in Uttar Pradesh will quit the saffron party and join SP.

The NCP supremo’s claim on BJP lawmakers comes just hours after state minister and senior BJP Swami Prasad Maurya today resigned from the Yogi Adityanath-led Cabinet in UP.

Taking aim at the BJP, Pawar said communal polarisation is being done in Uttar Pradesh ahead of UP elections 2022.

“The people of UP will give a befitting reply to this. The people of Uttar Pradesh are looking for change. We will surely see the change in the State,” the NCP chief said.

Ahead of UP elections 2022, the ruling BJP received a jolt as Minister Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from the state cabinet. “Due to the attitude of gross neglect towards Dalits, backwards, farmers, unemployed youth and small and medium-sized traders, I am resigning from the council of ministers of Yogi (Adityanath) of UP,” Maurya tweeted in Hindi.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav shared a photo of him with Maurya on Twitter welcoming him into his party.

Goa polls: NCP in talks with Congress, TMC, says Sharad Pawar

Pawar also claimed that NCP was having talks with Congress and Trinamool Congress to stitch an alliance for the goa elections 2022.

Interestingly, senior Congress leader KC Venugopal today rejected the media reports claiming that Rahul Gandhi discussed having an alliance with TMC for Goa elections 2022.

“The rumour in circulation that a possible alliance with TMC was discussed by Shri Rahul Gandhi in today’s meeting is completely baseless & untrue. Let me assure that the Congress party is confident- we will put Goa back on the path to progress soon,” Venugopal tweeted.
