Joe Root may enter in IPL auction

Bangalore,13/1: England’s Test captain Joe Root has revealed that he is looking to re-enter the lucrative league auction after missing out on any team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction four years ago. In the IPL auction in 2018, no team had bid for Root, considered one of the greats of the game in the current era. He has not been a part of this dazzling league since then.

The 31-year-old batsman, however, said that he would like to play in this league only if it does not affect his Test career. “Time is short but I have many things to think about,” Root told ESPNcricinfo.com.

Test cricket priority for Root

He further said, “Will this have a negative effect on my playing Test cricket? If I don’t think so, I will put myself in the auction. But I would never do anything that would make it difficult to play Test cricket for England. It is very important to ensure this. Because it is my and other players’ priority.”

Root had scored the highest 1708 runs in Tests last year. He also scored 6 centuries. Before the upcoming season, the big IPL auction is going to be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.

Stark may also participate in the mega auction

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc also said on Wednesday that he is considering a return to the IPL despite the upcoming hectic schedule. So that they can prepare themselves for the T20 World Cup to be held this year. Starc last played IPL in 2015. He had said that at the moment I have not decided on it. But his chances of being included in the mega auction are strong.
