Chandigarh 16/1: Punjab Elections 2022 are near. Voting is to be held in the state on February 14. Meanwhile, after talks with the United Samaj Morcha (SSM) failed, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has started aiming its guns at this new party formed by the farmers’ unions. AAP has accused it of colluding with BJP and trying to woo its candidates. Last week, party chief Arvind Kejriwal had said that he was in talks with SSM president Balbir Singh Rajewal for an alliance, but it did not materialise. Because they were asking for more tickets than you. He had also admitted that AAP will suffer the most due to SSM’s decision to go it alone.
AAP’s co-in-charge in Punjab, Raghav Chadha also accused the Election Commission of giving concession in registration to help the Morcha. He said that it was part of BJP’s conspiracy to keep AAP away. Raghav Chadha did not take anyone’s name. But it was clear that he meant the SSM, which had started the process of registering with the Election Commission a few days before the announcement of the election. Following AAP’s claims, the Election Commission gave a clarification saying that similar provisions were made in the earlier elections in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
