Canberra, 23/1: Former No. 1 player Rafael Nadal defeated Adrian Manarino in straight sets to reach his 14th time in the men’s singles quarter-finals of the Australian Open tennis tournament here on Sunday. Nadal (Rafael Nadal) won 7-6 (14), 6-2, 6-2 in the fourth round match. He had to fight for 28 minutes 40 seconds to win the tiebreak of the first set of a match of the Australian Open tournament and during this he won on the seventh set point. This is Nadal’s 21st consecutive win over left-handed players.
Rafael Nadal also made it to the second spot along with John Newcomb in the list of most frequent quarterfinalists of the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Australian Open. Roger Federer is on top by making it to the quarter-finals 15 times. Spain Rafael Nadal has made it to the last-8 of a Grand Slam tournament for the 45th time and is third in the all-time list behind Federer (58) and Novak Djokovic (51).
