Charanjit Singh Channi to be Congress CM face of Punjab

Chandigarh, 3/2: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi may be declared as the chief ministerial face of the Congress for the Punjab Assembly elections by next week. Highly placed sources of the party say that Channi is leading in the survey started by the Congress to choose the CM face in Punjab.

Sources have said that the opinions of candidates, workers and party MPs are being recorded so that any fight between Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu on the CM face can be avoided.

The party is also calling the general public to get their opinion on the chief minister’s face through an automated call system. The target of the party is to call about 1.5 crore people through the system in the next 3 to 4 days. It is being told that the coordinators of the party are reaching to hand over the party soon after taking opinion from the Block President, District President and all the candidates.

Meanwhile, the party’s Rajya Sabha and Punjab Lok Sabha MPs are also being approached to give feedback on both the leaders to make the party’s CM face. A senior party member has said in a media report that the party is making all these efforts. There has been an opinion that the whole process should be transparent and whoever loses in the survey should not oppose the result in any way.
