PM Modi unveils Statue of Equality

Hyderabad, 5/2:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday dedicated the ‘Statue of Equality’ to the nation in the memory of the 11th century saint Sri Ramanujacharya at the temple located in Shamshabad, Hyderabad. The height of this idol is 216 feet. In the idol, the saint is shown sitting in Padmasana with folded hands. The idol is made of ‘Panchloha’, which is a combination of five metals- gold, silver, copper, brass and zinc. It is one of the tallest metal sculptures in the world in a sitting position.

 

The statue is mounted on a 54 feet high base building called ‘Bhadra Vedi’, which has floors dedicated to Vedic digital library and research centre, ancient Indian texts, a theatre, an educational gallery, where many works of Sri Ramanujacharya are described.

 

,The statue was conceived by Sri Chinna Jeyar Swami of Sri Ramanujacharya Ashram, which has now been given a tangible form. The inauguration of the Statue of Equality is part of the 12-day Sri Ramanuja Millennium Celebrations, which is the 1000th birth anniversary of Sri Ramanujacharya, the official statement said.
