Goa, 15/2: Goa is the smallest state in the country. But this time this state has made a big record in voting. According to the data received so far, about 78.94% voting has been done on Monday, February 14 for a total of 40 assembly seats in Goa. There is a possibility of a slight increase in this as the final figures will be confirmed only by Tuesday evening. After such a heavy turnout, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress are making many claims at their respective levels. It is also being told as a wave against the current BJP government of the state.
The highest voting Chief Minister’s seat Pargoa has only 2 districts – North Goa and South Goa. Of these, 78% voting has taken place in South Goa. Whereas in North Goa it is close to 79%. The interesting thing is that the highest 89.61% voting has happened in Sanquelim seat, from where BJP candidate and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is contesting. He has won this seat twice in 2012 and 2017. Whereas in the by-election held in 2008, he had to face defeat from here as well. The lowest turnout in Goa has been recorded in Benaulim seat. But that too remained 70.2%.
