UAE qualifies for T20 World Cup

UAE, 22/2: In the finals of Global Qualifier-A, UAE beat Nepal by 68 runs and Ireland beat Oman by 56 runs. With this, both of them have also made it to the finals. The matches of the World Cup (T20 World Cup 2022) are to be held in Australia in October-November. So far 14 teams have qualified in the 16-team tournament. The other 2 teams will be decided from the Qualifier-2 match to be held in July. Oman took part in the T20 World Cup last year (T20 World Cup 2021), but the team missed qualifying this time.

 

Playing first, UAE made a huge score of 175 runs for 7 wickets. Pakistan-born opener Mohammad Wasim played an aggressive innings of 70 runs. He faced 48 balls. Hits 4 fours and 4 sixes. Apart from this, V Aravind of Chennai played a brilliant innings of 46 runs in 23 balls. He hit 5 fours and 3 sixes. Jitendra Mukhiya and Abinash Bohra took 3 wickets each for Nepal. Captain Sandeep Lamichhane, while bowling tightly, gave only 24 runs in 4 overs and took one wicket.

 

8 players could not touch the tens digit

 

Chasing the target, Nepal had lost 3 wickets for 14 runs. Deepender Singh scored 38 and Gyanendra Mala tried to handle the team by scoring 20 runs, but the whole team was reduced to 107 runs in 18.4 overs. 8 players could not touch the tens digit. Captain and left-arm spinner Ahmed Raza bowled brilliantly for the UAE. He gave only 19 runs in 4 overs and took 5 wickets. Raza is also originally from Pakistan.
