New Delhi, 25/2: The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has given orders to the Department of Telecommunications to start 5G services in the country soon. After the order of the Prime Minister’s Office, now the Telecom Department has urged the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to give its recommendations regarding 5G by March 2. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has to give its recommendation on the rules regarding the auction process of 5G spectrum.
In a letter to the TRAI Secretary, the Department of Telecom has said that the Prime Minister’s Office wants to start 5G services in the country by August 15, 2022. In a letter to TRAI Secretary on 22 February, DoT has said, “With reference to the decision/action points emerging out of the deliberations of a Monitoring Group, the Prime Minister’s Office has requested DoT to start 5G services by August 15, 2022.” and requested TRAI to obtain recommendations in this regard by March 2022.
