India needs to be ready to fight future wars with indigenous weapons: Army chief

New Delhi, 9/3: Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane has said that the Russia-Ukraine conflict shows that a conventional war can happen and the country needs to be ready to fight future wars with indigenous weapons.

“Is the war being fought in cyberspace or through air-conditioned chambers?” General Naravane asked. He then replied that this war shows that a “conventional war could happen”.

“The war we are seeing is being fought physically on the ground,” the Army chief told mediapersons at a function in the national capital on Tuesday.

He also said that the “biggest lesson that we can learn from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war is that India needs to be ready to fight future wars with indigenous weapons.”
