The second Test match between India and Sri Lanka (India vs Sri Lanka) played at this ground was over in just 3 days. Not only this, 16 wickets had fallen on the very first day. Team India won the Day-Night Test played with Pink Ball by 238 runs. The match referee and former Indian cricketer Javagal Srinath has considered the pitch of the ground to be below average. For this reason a demerit point has also been given to him. If a pitch gets 5 demerit points in 5 years, then it can be banned for one year. That is, during this time international matches will not be played there.
Javagal Srinath said in his report, ‘The pitch took a lot of turn on the very first day. However, it improved with each session. But in my opinion, there was no proper match between bat and ball here. In such a situation, if there are 5 points, the hosting of the international match can be snatched from the ground. Recently, the ICC had also found the pitch of the first Test match played between Pakistan and Australia in Rawalpindi below average and gave one demerit point.
