Bhubaneswar, 28/3: Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik has directed the government to pay another 20 per cent arrears of the Seventh Pay Commission.

A government announcement letter was issued today. This will allow employees to get the full amount of arrears paid to the Seventh Pay Commission.
Eighty percent of the arrears have already been paid. The decision will benefit 600,000 employees of the state government. An additional budget of Rs 750 crore has been earmarked in the 2021-22 supplementary budget. Employees will receive the arrears in March.
It is to be noted that the state government has accepted the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission and implemented it from January 2016 and has been paying increased salaries since September 2017. As per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, it was decided to pay a 20-month increase in arrears between January 2016 and August 2017 in various installments. According to the decision, 70 per cent arrears were paid in 2017-18, 10 per cent in 2019-20 and 30 per cent in 2021-22.
It is worth noting that pensioners have also received 100 per cent of their salaries.
