CS And 5T Secretary In Ganjam To Review Ghatakeswar Irrigation Project

Ganjam, 28/4: With an aim to accelerate the progress of the ongoing infrastructural projects, especially in the irrigation sector, in Ganjam District, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra today Visited the Ghatakeswar Irrigation Project in Kukudakhandi Block. He was accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources, Anu Garg and 5T Secretary V K Pandian. The visiting officials reviewed the progress of the Ghatakeswar Multipurpose Project which is being developed with a cost outlay of Rs. 172.06 Crore over river Ghadaka. District officials including Collector Vijay Amrit Kulange, PD DRDA Shinde Dattatraya Bhausaheb, BeMC Commissioner and Dr. Siddeshwar Baliram Bondar and Berhampur Sub-Collector Keerthi Vasan V were present during the review meeting.

 

Located at a distance of about 20 kilometers from Berhampur city, this project has a catchment area of about 23.55 square kilometers and would irrigate around 600 Hectares of land in Kukudakhandi block. In addition to this, the project would also supply 8.25 MLD drinking water to more than 1 Lakh people in Berhampur and adjoining areas.

During the visit, the officers interacted with the technical team on site and directed them to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe i.e. by December 2022.

 

After reviewing the project, the senior officers visited Purunapatna High School of Kankia Gram Panchayat which has recently been transformed under the 5T initiatives of the State Government. During their interaction, the teachers and other staff expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for providing them with all state of the art modern amenities at their school such as Smart Classrooms, Hygienic toilets, Safe drinking water, Modern Science Laboratory and E-Library and assured to make proper utilization of the same.
