BCCI bans Sports Journalist Boria Majumder

Mumbai, 4/5: Sports journalist Boria Majumdar has been banned by BCCI for two years. Majumdar is accused of threatening India’s senior wicketkeeper and Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Wriddhiman Saha. Wriddhiman Saha shared screenshots of a message on social media last month. In this, Saha was threatened by a journalist. After this, Saha was asked by many players including former opener Virender Sehwag and former India head coach Ravi Shastri to reveal the name of that journalist in front of everyone. Ravi Shastri had demanded strict action from the BCCI in this matter. After this BCCI had to intervene in this matter.

The BCCI contacted Saha where he told the entire matter to the board. The board then constituted a 3-member committee. The committee included BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and board’s top council member Prabhtej Singh Bhatia. He investigated the whole matter.

Wriddhiman Saha had made this allegation

Two months later, through a tweet, Saha had said that he had been threatened by a journalist. In the message Saha shared on social media by journalist Boria Majumdar, Majumdar had said in a threatening tone, “You did not call. I will never interview you. I don’t take insults lightly and will remember that.”

Boria Majumdar’s side in this case

Last month, Boria Majmudar said in a video, “The screenshot has been tampered with. He is not completely correct. Saha’s interview was already planned, he had asked to send a zoom link for the interview. But he was not available even after giving time. Let us tell you that Wriddhiman Saha was dropped from the Indian team selected for the home Test series against Sri Lanka this year. After this, Saha also got angry with board president Sourav Ganguly and head coach Rahul Dravid.
