Narendrapur, : As part of its endeavour to inculcate and hone leadership and interpersonal skills amongst local youth, Tata Steel Meramandali under its flagship ‘Outdoor Leadership Camp’ initiative sent 25 youths from the peripheral villages of its Narendrapur plant at Dhenkanal to Remal, Jajpur on June 23, 2022. In this two-day long camp, they will be trained and given practical exposure on adventurous as well as leadership and interpersonal development skills.
For the first time Tata Steel Foundation, the CSR arm of Tata Steel has extended this initiative at its Meramandali plant. Through this initiative the youths will participate in various outdoor and indoor activities such as rock climbing, jummer climbing, rappelling, flying fox, team building games, map reading, adventure activity, basic safety, yoga, group discussion, etc.
Dibyahas Ray, Head CSR, Tata Steel Meramandali flagged off the expedition. Expressing his happiness he said, this will be definitely an exciting and remarkable experience for all these local youths. He also urged everyone to enjoy and learn each moment during this two-day programme.
Among others present on the occasion were Headmasters of seven peripheral high schools and the officials of CSR and Corporate Communications team of Tata Steel. The youths belong from Sarapa Raghunathpur, Khaliberana, Paik Purunakote, Mangalpur, Talbahal, Nuagaon, Shibapur, Kochilamada, Chandrasekharpur, Badibahal and Ganthigadia villages. One of them Ashutosh Patra has gone as the coordinator along with the team.
Post this two-day camp, the performance of the youths will be evaluated and subsequently they will be given further developmental training for improving their leadership and interpersonal skills. This year another two such groups will be sent as part of this Outdoor Leadership Camp initiative.
