Berhampur:,10/8: On 9th August Tuesday evening , Berhampur police received an information from Excise department that , while they were doing routine checking they detected a person carrying a bag with huge cash. Police seized the cash and found it to be of the value of Rs. 1,21,97,000 in Rs 500 denomination. Further investigation by Police revealed that the cash had been given in exchange of gold. Police detected that one Anand Subuti , owner of Anand Jwellery of Berhampur had paid the cash to the suspect in exchange of cash. Around 2.2 kg gold biscuit was seized from him and both the persons were not able to produce any suitable documents regarding either the cash or the gold.
Police have seized the cash and the gold . It will be handed to Income Tax department after proper documentation.Further investigation would be done by Income tax department informed by Berhampur SP Sravan Bibek M.
