Take proactive measures to lift AIFF’s FIFA suspension: Supreme Court to Centre

New Delhi, 17/8: The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned for August 22 the issue relating to FIFA suspending All India Football Federation (AIFF) after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appearing for Centre requested for the same.

The apex court was hearing Centre’s plea relating to All India Football Federation in the wake of FIFA suspending India and stripping it of the right to host the Under-17 Women’s World Cup.

The court said that our focus is that the country should have this event. “On the request of SG list on Monday, we request the Centre to take proactive measures to ensure holding of U-17 Women’s World Cup and lift the suspension on AIFF so the objective is duly achieved,” the bench noted.
