Sambalpur, : In a major boost to the transportation infrastructure in the Jharsuguda district, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) under its CSR initiatives is set to develop roads in rural areas. In this regard, MCL has taken up the project for Construction of Bituminous Road from village Godhan to Bhoipali (Bhoipada) at Barpali village in Jharsuguda district of Odisha.
Presently, the road connecting vilages Godhan to Bhoipada is in very bad shape causing huge inconvenience to the commuters. The road to be constructed by MCL will be of around 2-3 KMs which will be beneficial to approx. 2500 villagers.
Previously under its CSR initiative, MCL had executed a series of rural development works likes widening of roads, construction of drain, community centre, supply of purified water, development of playground, construction of classroom, children park, cremation shed, installation of street lights, etc at villages in Sundargarh District of Odisha. This initiative of MCL has contributed immensely to rural development, benefitting villagers.
MCL has also taken up many developmental works under its ‘Kayakalp Scheme’ (Comprehensive development Project) at Basantpur village under Dhankauda block of Sambalpur which includes piped water supply, construction of roads & community centre, renovation and electrification of schools, lighting of streets, etc.
MCL, the largest coal producing company in the country, is the highest contributor to the state of Odisha under CSR and has taken up several projects for comprehensive development of villages in its command areas at Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Sundargarh districts of Odisha.
